Max Lipsey is interested in the moment when a circle is confronted with reality, gravity, material and other "perfect" circles. The resulting forms, movements and interactions appeal to him more than an isolated ideal circle floating in a gravity-free space.

Internal and External Forces is made with a springy material that could theoretically form a perfect circle in a vacuum if forces were in equilibrium. This seems to be an unlikely situation in our chaotic and dynamic world.
