Straal

Straal is a project for Het Circulaire Warenhuis. The challenge was to create products from material collected by the 2nd hand shop in Leiden. I was moved by how kitschy or 'ugly' ceramics they had. Maybe out of fashion, but otherwise perfectly useable and good quality pieces. We created a collection of new 'white' ceramics by sandblasting the outer color off. A new unity is created, linking random pieces, from old china ware to promotional mugs. Remnants of the original design can be seen inside and underneath.
